Pay Rate: $25/hour            

Reports to: Volunteer Manager

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is looking to hire a part-time, seasonal Volunteer Associate for the 2026 season.   

Each year, more than 700 dedicated volunteers support BBP in maintaining a world-class park for all to enjoy. The Volunteer Associate primarily plays a key role in supporting the delivery of group volunteer projects for corporate, public, school, and local community groups. This includes the hands-on facilitation of Green Teams (group gardening) and Coastal Cleanup (trash collection) activities throughout the park, as well as related pre- and post-event administrative support. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is motivated by creating meaningful environmental stewardship experiences and engaging with a diverse community of volunteers.   

The position runs from March to November 2026, with variable hours; typically, up to 10 hours per week in March and November, and 20+ hours per week from April through October. This is an in-person role with a variable schedule based on program needs, including evening and weekend work, scheduled in advance.    

Primary Responsibilities:  

Facilitate group volunteer projects outdoors, including transporting and setting up equipment, welcoming and orienting volunteers, checking waiver completion, taking photographs, and supervising tasks.    

  • Track and accurately record volunteer attendance and key activity outcomes (such as bags of weeds removed or pounds of trash collected). 

  • Coordinate volunteer tools and equipment, including maintaining an up-to-date inventory and organized storage system.   

  • Provide general administrative and hands-on support for additional volunteer initiatives, as needed.   

  • Support other public programs and special events as needed.    

Qualifications:  

  •  Interest in supporting volunteer engagement and community stewardship at BBP.   
  • Experience with volunteering, community engagement, environmental stewardship, or related activities (either personally or professionally).   

  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with a diverse range of people.   

  • Flexible, solutions-oriented, and comfortable adapting to changing needs.   

  • Ability to perform outdoor physical work in all weather conditions, including lifting up to 40 pounds. 

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.  

  • Valid US Driver’s License.   

  • Comfort speaking to or facilitating groups of people preferred.   

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred.
