Job Title: Manager, People and Culture
Classification: Exempt / Full-time (35 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $85,000 - $95,000
Reports to: Chief People Officer
Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) seeks an organized, people-centric, and detail-orientated Manager to join its People & Culture team. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, the Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of People and Culture, ensuring smooth daily activities related to recruitment and onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and People and Culture systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting to seamless onboarding for new employees.
- Supporting the development and implementation of People and Culture policies and procedures that comply with legal standards and align with the BBP’s mission, vision, and values.
- Serving as liaison and main point of contact with BBP’s PEO – ADP – regarding leaves, timecard issues, accruals, and other employee needs.
- Overseeing the administration of employee benefits, relevant payroll changes, and leave management.
- Managing systems and databases, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Monitoring and analyzing department metrics to identify trends and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Supporting the effective resolution of employee relations issues and fostering a positive work environment.
- Conducting regular audits of department activities to ensure compliance and identify areas for enhancement.
- Overseeing company compliance training and ensuring adherence to labor laws and regulations.
- Leading People and Culture improvement initiatives and projects, where needed.
- Consulting to managers and staff regarding policies and procedures.
- Supporting the performance review process year-round via quarterly check-ins and annual reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on operations management, including a minimum of 3 years working with a PEO. Experience with ADP is a plus.
- Ability to develop and successfully implement clear and fair company policies.
- In-depth knowledge of HRIS, payroll systems, and benefits administration.
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws and compliance regulations.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to communicate diplomatically, professionally and kindly, when needed.
- Possesses a positive, solutions-oriented, and customer-focused attitude.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Brooklyn Bridge Park, one of the largest and most significant public projects to be built in New York City in a generation, has transformed a once dilapidated industrial waterfront into a vibrant and thriving 85-acre civic landscape. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation (BBP) develops, improves, maintains, and fully operates the Park as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit entity, controlled by the City of New York. BBP is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Park, including horticulture, maintenance, capital planning and construction, event permitting, and concession oversight. The Park is designed by the Brooklyn-based landscape architecture firm Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc.
